DAILY HARD COURT MAINTENANCE
Keep the court clean
- Only allow proper shoes for court sports.
- Clean debris from the surface. Leaves, twigs, grass clippings, etc. can stain the court surface and should be removed as soon as possible.
- In dry climates and indoor courts, ball fuzz and dirt/dust should be removed to prevent slippery conditions.
- Blowers and sweepers specifically designed for tennis courts should be used to remove debris. Personnel using backpack blowers should not lean against fabric windscreens, curtains, or padding as heat from the exhaust will cause damage.
- Clean up any spills immediately using a soft bristle brush and mild detergent solution.
DAILY HARD COURT MAINTENANCE
Keep the court dry
- After a rain event remove standing water as soon as possible. Rubber bladed or roller type squeegees are ideal for this purpose. Two squeegees per court are recommended to get you back to play as soon as possible. Several types of tools are available on this site.
- Make certain the court drains (if applicable) are working properly and court adjacent landscape beds or turf areas are not impeding the flow of water off the courts.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Keep ahead of problems
- For springtime opening and occasional cleaning, pressure washing is recommended with certain cautions. Maximum 1500psi equipment only. Walk behind rotary equipment is best suited.
- For algae growth pressure washing may be used in conjunction with a bleach solution approved by the EPA for outdoor use. Always do a small test area first to avoid discoloration of the surface.
- Patching cracks or other damaged areas may be performed if safety is an issue. Otherwise, it is best left until a full recoating to avoid a patchy, blotchy appearance of the surfacing.
- If severe cracks develop, consider a trusted solution like the Armor Crack Repair System.
RECONDITIONING
Recoating or resurfacing
- Recoating with a new Har Tru Sports Coatings system is recommended every 4-7 years depending on use and environment.
- Minor cracking, bird baths, and other imperfections can typically be addressed at this time. Large structural cracks, distorted planarity, or more severe issues may require additional reconstruction.
- Please consult your Har Tru representative for advice, planning, and budgets.
- Har Tru can recommend local installation professionals to provide the best services.
