Creating Champions on Clay Court Surfaces
February 1, 2010
Charlottesville, VA –Discovering the power of training and playing on a recently installed Lee Tennis Court Products (LTCP) HydroCourt clay tennis surface has enabled Geoff Grant’s children - five tennis athletes and sport fanatics – to advance their games and establish successful career paths in tennis. Ideal for elite players with a rigorous training regimen, the HydroCourt offers comfort, perfect playing conditions day and night and more court time for the Grant children who are competitive and passionate about the game of tennis.
It’s all about competition, training and tennis for Andy, Michael, Booie, Megan and William who are all developing their game on clay. They are among the top players nationwide. William, the youngest of the five, reached the number two ranking in his age group and is one of the best eight-year-old players in Ca., who lives to play tennis. “William is the reason we converted our hard court to the HydroCourt; he’s fanatic about the sport,” said Grant. “We wanted the best surface to develop his game so converting our hard court to a HydroCourt was the clear choice.”
Grant commented, “Playing tennis on the HydroCourt for the last few months has already improved the children’s footwork and allowed them to play smarter and longer without the wear and tear on their bodies.”
Winning a game on clay requires you to think smarter and allows you to be a well rounded player. “It’s like a chess game.” Grant says. Being a strategic player will help you win on clay. You have to think about constructing the whole point. According to Grant, ultimate footwork, patience and readiness have contributed to powerful plays for his children. Training on clay has also increased the children’s confidence levels and resulted in mindsets of champions.
“I can slide and am able to play better and longer,” commented Booie. Grant said, “Effectively the court is maintenance free. We haven’t had any issues and all we have to do is sweep the court after playing and the self hydrating component keeps the court playable.”
Grant has realized that clay courts are surfaces for champions. He wholeheartedly believes the HydroCourt and training on clay surfaces as a whole will advance and elevate the games of his children. “There’s no downside to owning a HydroCourt - it’s easy on your body, requires minimal maintenance and makes your mind stronger and more active.”
